Because this group is broad, judging a listing on freshness, turnover and how consistent recent reviews are tends to work better than judging by decor or price range alone. Most kitchens in San Diego will adjust a dish for common dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian if you ask when ordering. Hours vary widely: diners and fast-food chains often stay open late or around the clock, while bakeries and cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon. Catering and food delivery businesses in California usually require advance notice, from a day for a small order up to a week or more for a large event, so it is worth contacting them early.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (858) 279-8881. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, szechuanchefca.com.

With 4.2 out of 5 on Google from 169 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for restaurants in San Diego. Recent reviews are the best guide.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We actually came here by accident. We were originally planning to eat at the H Mart food court, but the lines were crazy because of the holiday, so we tried a few other places and ended up here since it wasn’t too crowded. Honestly, it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. At first, I wasn’t expecting too much because the rating was around 4.3, but the portion sizes completely shocked us. I’m not exaggerating — I don’t think I’ve seen portions this generous anywhere in California, whether in San Diego, Silicon Valley, or Los Angeles. The shredded pork with garlic sauce was basically full of meat, and the flavor was really good. The fish fillets with black bean sauce also came with huge pieces of fish. The dry pot pork intestines were especially impressive in many places, dishes like this have a layer of vegetables at the bottom and just a few pieces of meat on top, but here we ate half of it and there was still a lot of pork intestine left. The flavor was also very authentic. The sweet rice wine soup with mini rice balls was a large portion too, and even the noodles were huge. We ordered several dishes and couldn’t finish everything; honestly, the leftovers could easily las

The dishes all tasted great. Some of them started to feel a bit salty/greasy after we were about half way through though.

Authentic traditional, Chinese restaurant with good service and large portions of food. Overall, this is a very good restaurant. I didn’t like their Mapo tofu but other than that everything was great. I highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food and service. Hard to beat this restaurant. Please give this place a try.

This review is more for the owner of the restaurant instead of other customers based on a terrible experience at the restaurant.  It was the first time we dinning at the restaurant. We were handed in the traditional paper menu and we ordered based on the menu. We later realized 3 out of 4 dishes we ordered has higher price on the bill than the menu we were given. First of all, this was dishonesty for customers. I am not sure how many customers were charged a different price without noticing it. It was not right and illegal in the first place. Not a big deal, can be managed and handled well easily. What I want to highlight was how the waiter handled this. (For the owner, he was a Chinese male short hair in about 180cm height) Once we confronted him, he got defensive instantly and believe I want to trick/scam him for money, which is absolutely redicoulus as we were the one mistreated. A few facts: * he didn't apologize at all * he told us, I quote, "you can call the police; please don't come back and we will never serve you again"; "Please go, thank you and please don't come back"; * when we were giving the feedback to another waitress, he interrupted the conversation and told the

We were looking for Chinese restaurant and we came across this one and we wanted to give it a try. The food is great specially the noodles which were freshly made and they were perfect …. The food has a Sechuan spicy authentic flavor and we really loved it. The service was good and waitresses were attentive and friendly. In terms of price, it is very affordable and the portions are really big and will make you full. I definitely recommend it to people who are looking for authentic Chinese and specially Sechuan Cuisine but be advised it is spicy and yummy.
